A Cornish members' club,

Eighteen holes of mature heathland on the old Carnmoor estate, a clubhouse that has warmed four generations of golfers, and a calendar that turns with the seasons. There is always a game, and always a welcome.

A word from the Captain

Friends, and friends we have yet to meet —

Carnmoor Park has never been a grand club, and we rather like it that way. We are a working club of working people: the early-tee regulars, the Tuesday ladies, the juniors who appear in the holidays and beat us soundly by August. What we have built across a hundred years is not a trophy cabinet but a habit of belonging.

If you are weighing up where to play your golf, come and stand on our first tee with the gorse in flower and the sea light coming off the coast. Stay for a pint afterwards. You will know within the hour whether this is your sort of place. For most who try us, it is.

The Course

Heathland golf, the honest way

Laid out in 1922 across the old Basset deer park, our eighteen run over free-draining heath and through stands of mature Scots pine. There is little water and less fuss — the defence here is angle, gorse and a wind that comes off the Atlantic with opinions of its own. Play it sensibly and it is a delight. Play it greedily and it will quietly take your card apart.

The stretch home from the 12th is the making or unmaking of many a medal — three tight par fours into the prevailing wind, and the 17th's pulpit green guarded front and side. Bring your patience.

The Clubhouse

A bar worth losing an afternoon in

The nineteenth is, by long tradition, the most demanding hole at Carnmoor. Our kitchen does proper food — a Sunday carvery the whole parish turns out for, a steak night on Fridays, and a bacon roll on the turn that has talked many a member out of an early finish.

  • Members' bar & lounge open seven days, log fire from October
  • Function room for weddings, wakes and the odd 80th birthday
  • Society catering from filled rolls to full silver service
