The Men's Section
Full fixture card from March to October, midweek roll-ups, and the Basset Cup match against our neighbours that nobody admits to caring about quite as much as they do.
Eighteen holes of mature heathland on the old Carnmoor estate, a clubhouse that has warmed four generations of golfers, and a calendar that turns with the seasons. There is always a game, and always a welcome.
Friends, and friends we have yet to meet —
Carnmoor Park has never been a grand club, and we rather like it that way. We are a working club of working people: the early-tee regulars, the Tuesday ladies, the juniors who appear in the holidays and beat us soundly by August. What we have built across a hundred years is not a trophy cabinet but a habit of belonging.
If you are weighing up where to play your golf, come and stand on our first tee with the gorse in flower and the sea light coming off the coast. Stay for a pint afterwards. You will know within the hour whether this is your sort of place. For most who try us, it is.
Martin Pengelly
Captain · One Hundred and Fourth Year
Laid out in 1922 across the old Basset deer park, our eighteen run over free-draining heath and through stands of mature Scots pine. There is little water and less fuss — the defence here is angle, gorse and a wind that comes off the Atlantic with opinions of its own. Play it sensibly and it is a delight. Play it greedily and it will quietly take your card apart.

The stretch home from the 12th is the making or unmaking of many a medal — three tight par fours into the prevailing wind, and the 17th's pulpit green guarded front and side. Bring your patience.
Course record 63Four sections, one bar, and a rivalry or two that have outlasted marriages. There is a place for you here whatever your handicap, your age, or your idea of a good Saturday.

One of the warmest and most welcoming in the county — new and returning golfers especially encouraged.
Inter-club friendlies across the south-west, and the best soup-and-roll lunch in Cornish golf.
Our future captains. Saturday morning coaching with the professional, a thriving junior order of merit, and the occasional broken clubhouse window we choose not to investigate.
The golfing year, at a glance
Every Captain, every Champion, every hole-in-one is recorded in oak and gold leaf in the hall. A few of them are below. Most of them are still propping up the bar.
The nineteenth is, by long tradition, the most demanding hole at Carnmoor. Our kitchen does proper food — a Sunday carvery the whole parish turns out for, a steak night on Fridays, and a bacon roll on the turn that has talked many a member out of an early finish.
We keep our subscriptions fair and our welcome genuine. No joining fee, no introduction required — just a phone call and a round in good company.
£42 /round
Seven days, subject to availability. Society packages from £55 including bacon roll on arrival and a two-course meal.
£865 /year
Seven-day playing rights, full competition entry, EG handicap, and a vote at the AGM. Monthly direct debit available.
from £390
Reduced rates for under-30s, students and those living over 40 miles away. Junior membership from just £40 a year.
Gladly, seven days a week and subject to tee availability. We'd recommend booking ahead at weekends and on competition days. Parties of eight or more should ring the office for a society package.
A mature heathland and parkland eighteen, founded in 1922 on the former Carnmoor estate. At 6,222 yards off the whites it rewards thoughtful, position golf far more than length.
Full, intermediate, country, junior and flexible categories are available year-round. Arrange a visit, play a few holes with us, and the membership secretary will guide you through the rest. No introduction needed.
